Mayorazgo Palace

This monument in Arcos de la Frontera was built in the 18th century. On its door you will see a coat of arms with helmet and lambrequins of the Núñez de Prado family. Inside there are two colonnaded courtyards and the coffered ceilings of spacious halls.

You should visit the Jardín Andalusí, the rear part of the Mayorazgo Palace.. It is the result of a refurbishment carried out at the beginning of the 21st century at the back of the Mayorazgo Palacewhich corresponded to the stables and recreation area. In this space, two elements that are indispensable in the Andalusian culture and in our own, such as water and flora, merge, which together with the environment in which it is located, take us back to times gone by.

Currently, the Mayorazgo Palace is Municipal Delegation of Culture. It has other rooms with temporary or permanent exhibitions.

Squares, corners and streets

We recommend you visit some of the most emblematic squares in Arcos de la Frontera: Plaza del Cabildo, Plaza de Boticas and Plaza del Cananeo. These are places where history revolves around them, and you should get to know them.

We recommend you visit some of its streets, such as the Belén slope (the old Jerez gate), dating from the Muslim period. On the pretext that it interrupted the street, it was demolished in 1852. You can also stroll along Calle Nueva, whose origins lie in the collapse of the north wall in the Lisbon earthquake of 1755. And a host of other streets that will transmit the essence of this white village in the province of Cadiz.
